Lev Tolstoi: Anna Karenina
Many know in theory that Tolstoi is a big writer, in practice, however, there are less. It would be worth while, though, since he writes sincerely about eternal human thruths, a proof also of his psychological intelligence.
Here's for example the Anna Karenina, the story of an adultery in Tostoi's Russia. The events in themselves are less important, it's the feelings and thoughts that are essential. The thoughts of two people divide, doubts push into tragedy a love unfolded and protected through many sacrifices. I can't endevour to contract into two lines how almost at each thought I would have wanted to shout, oh, how human this is, oh, how true. Even if only as a step in knowing ourselves, it is worth to be read.
